Milwaukee hosted Hotel Month this past January. We did a double and hit both Hotel Month and Museum week! I always love going to Milwaukee because there is so much to do! Here are a few of the things we got to enjoy during our weekend away.
We actually started our weekend in West Bend. I wanted to see the ice sculptures that were set up along the downtown area. Sadly, time is always against me so we only saw about half of these amazing sculptures up close.
Breakfast at Nosh Nook
Mike had the breakfast tacos while I had a smore's french toast. A fantastic way to start our day and check out that mural!
This is just one of those many places that I just never got around to, so we just finally did it. Admission was discounted when mentioning Museum Week. It was cool to learn about Harley Davidson and its history in Milwaukee. My favorite section was "Custom Culture".
A coworker had actually just mentioned this amazing stop before we left for Milwaukee and it was immediately added to our list. I love quirky places like this. What made it even more special was the scavenger hunt and a game of "Where's Waldo". I highly suggest stopping in during your next trip to Milwaukee.
Colectivo Coffee
I'm not sure if there has been a time in the past two years that I have been to Milwaukee and haven't stopped at Colectivo. I recently saw Milwaukee won for best coffee city in America, so I celebrated them with an iced latte. This Colectivo was in the same building as the National Bobblehead Museum and Hall of Fame-talk about convenient!
The Pabst Mansion
We missed out on going inside for a tour of the mansion-they were booked for the day. It was still cool to see the outside of it and read about the historical significance.
I have passed this miraculous place a few times now when heading into Chicago or going to Pleasant Prairie area. We finally made the stop and oh boy, it was a traveler's dream. Cheese for miles, a medieval castle theme, local treats, a tavern, snack bar, and Wisconsin souvenirs!
IKEA
We were actually in the market for some new furniture and it's so hard not to stop at IKEA when in the area. So we walked around looking for furniture and eating meatballs.
Tru by Hilton Milwaukee Downtown
I'm not a blogger to talk about hotels. Unless they're themed. I see them as a place to land my head and run out again. But Tru is worth mentioning. The views from our hotel room were amazing! We had a discounted rate from the Milwaukee Hotel Month deals. We did have an odd experience checking in as the front desk attendant kept falling asleep. I think that's a first for me. It's weird just having someone doze off in the middle of a transaction, but I get it, I've been there. Those long late night/overnight hours are rough.
Photos shown are views from our hotel room and the top of the parking ramp.
Up until this night I had never had a Bloody Mary. Upon observation, I knew what they would taste like. I couldn't fathom liking one. I noticed a friend was constantly getting them when going out, so I figured, heck. Might as well, right? Wicked Hop is known for their fun Bloody Mary's topped with cheese whips. And to little surprise, I didn't like it. But you never know unless you try right? And I'm glad I tried it here so I could snack on the toppings.
Sunday we woke up and had an amazing breakfast at Two Brothers. We were going to go to more museums but had a last minute change and went to the 7 Mile Fair instead. I surprisingly didn't get any photos, but it was quite the experience. If you're a shopper, I suggest stopping here. If you don't like crowded spaces, avoid it.
Thanks for reading! If you have any suggestions of places I should go, let me know!
Until next time, Happy Trails!
